Apparently people hated to go for walks with him because he would stop and look at every tree for like 20 minutes.


I also like doing this so we would probably have had nice walks together

I like to think this is where Ents language came from. He was just simply saying ‘Hi’ to the trees. You can’t blame him it takes time.


actually the Ents came from his frustration with Shakespeare during Macbeth, when the prophecy from the three witches said that the ‘forest would move’. Basically he thought that was really cool, but when at the end of the play the soldiers just put twigs on their heads, and that was the ‘forest moving’. He was disappointed by this, and therefore made amends to the story by adding a whole forest that can move in his book. However, he did always find trees to be fascinating due to their impossibly long lives. He saw them as an essential part of a country’s culture.
